Last night there was a win for civil liberties in Washington state as they voted to allow civil unions. However, in Maine, we lost the battle for civil liberties as the people came out and voted in one of the closest races in that state's recent history to disallow gay marriage from occurring.
Without beating you over the head with the opinion you all know I have, I would just like to say I find it sad that with all of the world's problems today, that this issue is even an issue. We're dealing with poverty and starvation and genocidal governments and hatred and fear and what issues do voters continue to beat down the polls to actually stop? The rights of their fellow citizens. This is a bittersweet day.
I look forward to the day when this is a distant mark on history, and our children can forgive us our ignorance.
On a crazier note: I'm #21 on iTunes! I was scrolling down the section of the Religion & Spirituality: other category and noticed... Hey! That's my show! Look!
Thank you all! Remember to head over and vote, rate, and leave a comment as that keeps the show bumped up in the numbers over there. Bless you for that.
