New Year's Non-Resolutions

New Year's day is upon us! Happy New Year to all of you wonderful Rioters!

Last night Partner and I rung in the new year with a kiss and popping open a bottle of Champagne. Funny thing, I found out I rather dislike champagne. I'm not an alcohol drinker, and Champagne is absolutely no exception. You'd think that my taste buds at least would know you're supposed to like Champagne on New Year's Eve. I got strawberries and everything!

Oh well...

As per usual, New Year's Eve/Day is a time to make New Year's resolutions. However, I always resolve - every year - to not make a resolution. It's not because I don't make resolutions, and it's not because I know that somewhere around 90%+ of resolutions fail. (Ok...maybe that last one has something to do with it.) It's because - and here's my advice to you readers - I make resolutions to change behaviors as the problem/situation/behavior comes up. If I decide in August that I need to eat better or learn to change my tires or study Spanish....I begin doing something about it in August. I don't wait until January 1st. There's really nothing magical about the day that makes resolutions stick.

If anything...it makes them flop.

So... I resolve to see the events of 2010 as they come. I resolve to NEVER stop pushing limits, finding the boundaries of comfortable thinking, and taking a jackhammer to them. I resolve to meet challenges with a steel spine and courage. I resolve to not let myself get into a dark place because of temporal things like money or the length of time it may or may not take to get hired on with a court system.

I resolve to ROCK 2010. What are your 2010 resolutions/non-resolutions?

Love and Lyte,

Fire Lyte

P.S. Could you spare a vote at Podcast Alley? It's a new month, and we made it to #18 last month! Let's get this show back up there!
