The Evil Missile Defense Logo of Hope and Islam

Batten down the hatches, folks, the bullshit is flying at breakneck speeds right off the fan! This week's latest "President Obama is secretly trying to take over the USA and thereby the world" conspiracy theory comes with a recent logo change at the Missile Defense Agency. Fox News (and sadly CNN) have jumped on the already full bandwagon of bloggers and right-wingers that are convinced the new logo is far too similar to both the Islamic crescent moon and the 2008 Obama campaign logo. For your conspiratorial viewing pleasure, I present all relevant logos to you now:

I'm sure the similarities are obvious. Despite the fact that the original logo has many of the same characteristics (round, includes a star, incorporates the red, white, and blue colors), and forgetting the fact that the logo is merely a secondary logo that MDA claims is being used because 3 colors is cheaper to mass-produce than 5, obviously something's going on here. As you can see, Obama is clearly trying to take over the world one logo at a time. The Washington Post wrote about the recent wave of right-wingers insisting that the logo change is 'nefarious.' 

Hate to break it to the lovely right-wingers, who help keep this blog full of stuff to laugh about, but the new logo came about in 2007. Yeah... During George W. Bush Christ's reign. So... I suppose it could still have something to do with Obama, as he was alive at the time. 

I'm sorry conspiracy hunters, but it's like I tell the kids that I work with who are geniuses when it comes to finding new ways to break rules and commit crimes:

IF YOU WOULD JUST FIND A WAY TO USE THAT INSANELY EVIL GENIUS FOR SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE, WE WOULD HAVE NO DISEASE, NO WAR, NO POVERTY, AND NO SOCIAL PROBLEMS. YOU'D HAVE FIXED THEM ALREADY!

While funny, there are enough national problems to deal with without spending time and resources talking about the BS of a logo change.
