Media Roundup: Music Video Edition *Updated!*

This has been a stressful week for a lot of people. What better way to de-stress and get your weekend off to a great start than with some fun, funky music videos from around the web!

Feel free to share your favorites in the comments below!

Katy Perry - Roar

I have been really enjoying this song, but the music video is seriously delightful. It's funny, catchy, and will inspire many Halloween costumes. Also, who else thinks this Katy Perry chick needs to play Wonder Woman in a movie immediately?!

Ylvis - The Fox

I discovered this...whatever this is supposed to be...last night while stumbling around social media before bed. This morning I woke up singing it. It is very, very weird and very, very fun. Norwegian sibling duo Ylvis have created the next big viral video. I suppose showing you all this makes me a carrier. (That's virus humor, folks.)

It's not available for purchase on iTunes or Amazon yet, though given how it's about to blow up the internet I give it a matter of hours before they get it.

Blurred Lines feminist parody

University of Auckland law students Adelaide Dunn, Olivia Lubbock and Zoe Ellwood created this video in response to the sexism portrayed by Robin Thicke's original video - in which topless women jiggle their goodies while he sings about getting them drunk and having his way with them. The tables are turned on three equally topless men (hubba hubba) while the ladies of the video speak of female empowerment and an end to gender inequality. It's incredibly fun, very sexy (I mean...the whipped cream on the guy's face? Ding ding ding!), and has plenty of singalong lyrics.

As far as I'm aware, the single cannot be purchased, but if anyone finds it I'll be more than happy to post links!

Steve Grand - Stay

Steve Grand - gay singer and newly minted internet sensation and former underwear model - is putting out his new video and single 'Stay' later today. From the screen grabs, and seeing his former work, I'm almost positive it will be worth it.

Aaaaand here it is!

You can find everything about Steve Grand, including performances and where to get his music, on his Facebook page:

Love and Lyte,

Fire Lyte

  1. Steve Grand--I just listened to "Stay" earlier this evening. It's not as awesome as "All-American Boy" (which I played A LOT when I first heard about it), but it's still really cool. And my student loan can't come in soon enough so I can get both of his songs.
